Seth Godin's recent inspiration piece in emphasizes the true definition (and power) of a brand: a promise to consumers that helps them navigate through their day and make meaningful choices -- especially in an age of abundance.  As marketing communicators, "our job is to make a promise about how our intervention in the customer's world will offer them a path toward better."
